Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a very effective treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This process significantly increases the amount of oxygen delivered to tissues and cells throughout the body, promoting healing and regeneration.
HBOT has been widely recognized for its ability to accelerate recovery from conditions such as wounds, infections, sickness, and injury. Its benefits extend to reducing inflammation, boosting immune function, and enhancing cellular repair. By improving oxygen delivery, HBOT also supports brain health, making it an emerging therapy for neurological conditions like dementia, depression, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and autism spectrum disorder. Furthermore, HBOT is now being used in the anti aging field, with recent clinical studies showing significant reversal in physical aging markers. With its potential to address a wide range of medical issues, from chronic pain to autoimmune diseases, HBOT offers a non-invasive and effective solution for improving overall health and vitality.
“What oxygen is to the lungs, such is hope to the meaning of life.”
— Emil Brunner
How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works
Increases Oxygen: Normal air contains 21% oxygen, while HBOT uses 100% oxygen.
Pressure: The chamber increases air pressure, allowing the lungs, tissues, and otherwise hard to reach areas of the body to absorb more oxygen.
Tissue Healing: The extra oxygen supports tissue repair, stimulates new blood vessel growth (angiogenesis), and helps fight infections.
HBOT can help with:
Wounds (diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing wounds, pressure sores, radiation injuries, burns, etc.)
Infections (serious bacterial infections and others, gas gangrene, and infections in bones)
Inflammation
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Decompression sickness caused by rapid pressure changes (scuba diving)
Crush injuries
Vision loss
Hearing loss
Circulation (increased oxygen promotes new blood vessel growth, improving circulation)
Swelling (HBOT helps reduce inflammation and swelling in tissues)
Enhanced immune function (the increased oxygen can strengthen the body's ability to fight infection.
Traumatic brain injury and Stroke
Neuroplasticity
Alzheimer’s
Parkinson’s
Multiple Sclerosis
AND SO MUCH MORE!
FAQs
How do I prepare for my treatment?
To prepare for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), patients should follow the following guidelines:
Wear 100% cotton clothing
No electronics
No petroleum-based products (Vaseline, etc)
Avoid using lotions, makeup, hairspray, and other cosmetics before treatment
Eat a small meal prior to treatment and stay hydrated
Limit tobacco use
Practice techniques like yawning, swallowing, or chewing gum to equalize the pressure in your ears during the treatment.
If you experience any discomfort, such as ear pain or dizziness, inform the technician immediately.
Relax and enjoy!
By following these guidelines, patients can optimize their HBOT experience and maximize its benefits.
Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Safe?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a treatment involving breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, is generally considered safe when administered under proper supervision and in appropriate settings. It has a long history of use for various conditions, including wound healing, decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and many more. There are specific protocols put in place to maximize the safety of this modality.
How often can I do HBOT?
The frequency of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) varies depending on the condition being treated and individual patient needs, but generally involves multiple sessions per week, often daily for a set period. You can work with your practitioner to help determine the frequency.

Owner of Brain and Body Reset
Hi, my name is Cele Wiggins. I am beyond excited to offer two new therapies at The Healing Nook, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and neurofeedback.
The hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers 100% oxygen under pressure, which allows oxygen to get to places it normally cannot! The benefits are amazing and endless! It is very relaxing and rejuvenating as well. I would love to walk with you through your journey, whatever that may be and I’m excited for you to experience what these treatments can do for you!
